My first Dress

Although I had previously sewn straight lines to make a skirt for my American Girl Dolls, this dress was the first creation I took from pencil and paper to fabric. I made it as an independent study project at school and loved learning about sewing clothes and all of the challenges that come with it! I did not use a pattern, only a previously owned dress that fit me well. It is a simple white strapless dress with one pleat in the front and two on each side, however the design was meant to emphasize the pink trim at the bottom, a touch I was more than excited about. There is also a half sized zipper in the back, and a silky underlay to help form the skirt. Overall, after completing this dress, I could not wait to sew another more technical one as soon as I finished.
